Work tasks

The postdoctoral researcher will develop quantitative methods for the evaluation of the biodiversity implications of the forest resource use scenarios. She/he will analyse the impacts of forest policies and forest management scenarios on the biodiversity and ecosystem services, resistance and resilience of plant/fungal communities to changes in environment, synergies and trade-offs between biodiversity and ecosystem services, and ways to simultaneously promote biodiversity and economic benefit in forests.

Qualifications

We are seeking highly motivated researcher with a recent PhD (or PhD thesis in final stage) in ecology or ecosystem analyses. The ideal candidate has an in-depth knowledge of vegetation dynamics and factors influencing plant distribution, the ability to identify plant species in field, excellent skills in mathematical analysis of vegetation data. Experience in scientific publishing and communicating the research results, the ability to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary research group and excellent writing and speaking skills in English are all requirements. Good programming skills, the capacity to develop process based models and the ability to rapidly understand model algorithms and modular process-based frameworks are appreciated. 

The person to be appointed to the postdoctoral researcher position should have completed his/her doctoral degree within the past four years (excluding maternity leaves, parental leaves, or military service). A doctoral degree must be completed at the time of accepting the position. The vacancy is initially for 2 years with a possibility of 1 year continuation (2+1).
