The Department of Applied Biosciences and Process Engineering of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences at Köthen Campus invites applications for the professorship of

Food Process Engineering
(salary group W 3)

which is to be filled at the earliest possible date.

Job Description:

The position holder (m/f/x) represents the professorship in an application-oriented manner in teaching, continuing education and research.

Teaching activities focus on the range of courses offered in the degree programs of Food Technology and Food4S (including career-integrated studies and English-taught studies). The professorship therefore requires a high level of commitment to supervising bachelor’s and master’s theses, to managing student projects and excursions and to coordinating the strategic development of degree programs. Anhalt University’s application-oriented study approach requires intensive cooperation with the practice and training partners.

Applied research will focus on interdisciplinary cooperation with national and international universities and research institutions, with companies and professional associations as well as with other departments at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. Active participation in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects and research and development projects is expected. The applicant (m/f/x) is responsible for the project management of the new research building (InFonaL), in which a separate research group is to be established. In this context, experience in the field of protein technology is desirable.

Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has the right to award doctorates in research-intensive disciplines. Participation in the inter-university Doctoral Center “Life Sciences" and collaboration in the research focus "Life Sciences" is therefore expected.

Active participation in the committees of academic self-government is one of the tasks of the professorship (e.g. degree program advisory service for the career-integrated degree programs in Food Technology).

Requirement Profile:

Applicants will possess proven and practical experience in the area of expertise of Food Process Engineering and Technology.

The applicant (m/f/x) has graduated with a relevant university degree and has successfully completed a doctorate in the field of appointment.

The applicant (m/f/x) is expected to teach the course content in German and English while applying contemporary teaching methods in Bachelor's and Master's degree programs at Anhalt University, for example in the modules Food Process Engineering and Food Physics as well as Preservation Technology. The module courses assigned to the professorship are to be further developed using modern didactic methods and techniques. A special focus is to be placed on digital teaching concepts. Current research findings are to be integrated into the curriculum.

Furthermore, the future position holder (m/f/x) should demonstrate expertise in the acquisition and implementation of collaborative and/or externally funded projects with partners from academia and practice, and should have publications to their name in the aforementioned focus areas. Experience in supervising doctoral students is desirable.

International networking in the subject area of the professorship is desired. A sound knowledge of the German and English languages is required, as are intercultural skills.

Employment requirements:

The requirements for employment are governed by article 35 Hochschulgesetz des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt (HSG LSA). Any first-time appointment to a professorship is based on fulfilling the requirements for a probationary civil servant position (Beamtenverhältnis auf Probe).

Anhalt University wishes to increase the proportion of women amongst its academic personnel and, thus, expressly encourages qualified women to apply for the post. The requirements of SGB IX apply to severely disabled applicants with the same qualifications and professional record.

Applications containing the usual documents (CV, outline of scientific career including teaching and related practical activities, list of research and publication activities, authenticated certificates/documents – higher education entrance qualification, graduation diploma/university certificates, PhD/doctoral certificate, if applicable, post-doctoral qualification/Habilitation) are to be sent to the President of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences by 12.05.2024.
