QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A doctoral degree (level 10 NFQ) in physiotherapy or cognate discipline
  • BSc Physiotherapy
  • Applicants must be eligible for membership of ISCP and CORU

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:


To teach students on the BSc Physiotherapy, MSc Physiotherapy (PQ) and other pre-registration and post-registration students across Clinical Therapies. The appointee will also take an active role in research, administration and curriculum design. Specifically, the post holder will be responsible for leading and delivering the cardiorespiratory modules on the BSc Physiotherapy and MSc Physiotherapy (PQ) in addition to other teaching as assigned by the Head of Department.
 
DESCRIPTION:
 
A Lecturer below the bar, tenure track position has arisen within the Department of Clinical Therapies at the University of Limerick. Applications are invited from suitably qualified physiotherapists who have the equivalent of 3 years’ full-time clinical experience that includes cardiorespiratory care. The successful candidate will be expected to further the research profile of the Department both in a supervisory and an interdisciplinary capacity in an area related to the departments research themes (Health & Well-being, Social Inclusion, Professional Practice & Education) and to engage in academic administration. Evidence of the integration of evidencebased practice at all levels of teaching is an important part of the programmes within Clinical Therapies.  
 
Essential Criteria

  • A doctoral degree (level 10 NFQ) in physiotherapy or cognate discipline 
  • BSc Physiotherapy
  • Applicants must be eligible for membership of ISCP and CORU
  • Applicants must have the equivalent of 3 years’ full-time clinical experience that includes cardiorespiratory care
  • Evidence of further relevant academic and/or professional study
  • Evidence of active ongoing post doctoral involvement in research
  • Evidence of involvement in the education of healthcare professionals and/or students including evidence of cardiorespiratory teaching at pre-registration or post-registration level

 
Desirable Criteria

  • Clinical experience in paediatrics 
  • Evidence of experience of third level teaching
  • Evidence of interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Evidence of transferrable skills that would enable them to teach across the Department of Clinical Therapies
  • Evidence of experience of involvement in academic administration
