Postdoc (f/m/x) – Molecular plant adaptation

The ‘Ecological Plant Genomics’ group at the Institute for Plant Sciences and the Cluster of Excellence on Plant Sciences (CEPLAS) studies the evolution and adaptation of plants. We work on the intersection between ecology and molecular biology to understand how plants can adapt to changing environments. Our main model is currently amaranth, but we also work with heterologous systems. Click here for more information www.cropevolution.org. The selected candidate will take a leading role in the molecular aspects of our research, studying functional changes of evolutionary relevance.

YOUR TASKS

  • Study genetic and genomic changes in response to environmental change
  • Establish new molecular methods for non-model plants
  • Participate in the development of projects and contribute ideas
  • Write and publish scientific articles and present results at conferences
  • Participate in teaching and student mentoring
  • Participate in group and project meetings and discussions

YOUR PROFILE

  • Doctoral degree in relevant field (e.g. molecular genetics, evolutionary genetics, plant breeding)
  • Background in molecular biology, plant genetics or equivalent
  • Interest in evolutionary questions and plant research
  • Experience with molecular genetics and omics techniques
  • Computational skills are a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

The position is available immediately on a full-time basis (39,83 hours per week). The position ist initially to be filled for a fixed term of two years with the possibility of extension. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary will be based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
