The Faculty of Psychology is one of the seven faculties of the oldest university in Switzerland. With our focuses on Society & Choice and Health & Interventions, we are nationally and internationally successful in research and education.

The newly established division of Youth Mental Health deals with mental health and transdiagnostic symptoms of emotional dysregulation in children and adolescents. To this end, we employ a combination of clinical, experimental, neurobiological, and ambulatory assessments.

With the planned research project, we aim to determine the extent to which psychophysiological data collected via smartphones from adolescents in the general population correlate with their everyday emotional experiences and mental health.

To achieve this, we are seeking an individual who is equally interested in youth mental health and innovative research methods, and who is motivated to pursue a PhD.
  • Development and implementation of a research project on psychophysiological ambulatory assessments via smartphone
  • Project coordination and recruitment of study participants
  • Data collection with adolescents and monitoring of ambulatory assessment
  • Data processing and statistical analysis
  • Presentation of scientific results in internal meetings, at national and international conferences
  • Writing and publishing scientific publications
  • Conducting teaching activities, supervising bachelor and master theses

  • Outstanding master's degree in psychology
  • Initial experience in teaching bachelor's and/or master's seminars
  • High level of initiative, independent work organization, reliable and meticulous work ethic, high degree of commitment and resilience
  • Very good oral and written German and English skills
  • Experience in analyzing longitudinal data (multilevel or structural equation models) is an advantage
  • Technical affinity; previous experience in collecting and processing psychophysiological or (neuro-)biological data is an advantage

  • Varied and challenging work in a dynamic and dedicated team with good national and international network
  • Acquisition of important skills in research methodology, application of specific statistical procedures
  • Close involvement in departmental research projects and collaborations, as well as intensive supervision
  • Remuneration according to the guidelines of the Swiss National Science Foundation (the position is initially limited to one year with the option of a two-year extension).
