The Position

We are looking for a full-time Junior Health Economist to join our team in 2017.  The position offers a stimulating and challenging environment as candidates will be involved in all operational activities of the company.  The successful candidate will contribute to the development of computer simulation models for the economic evaluation of healthcare interventions, and/or the preparation of materials to communicate the findings of our analyses across a number of different therapeutic areas (including diabetes and obesity, cardiovascular disease, immunology, mental health and oncology).  Responsibilities will include (with the support of other members of the team):

  • Preparation of literature reviews to support model development and the communication of value (e.g. global value dossiers)
  • Development of health economic models to support economic evaluation
  • Preparation of written materials to effectively communicate value (including value dossiers, reimbursement submissions, reviews and manuscripts for publication, abstracts, posters and slide sets for presentation at scientific/medical congresses)
  • Effective project management and project delivery, including oral presentations, and liaison with clients to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Development of creative “side projects” to advance personal knowledge and/or drive new business opportunities


Graduate and post-graduate candidates qualified in biomedical, medical or life sciences, health economics or economics will be considered for the position:

  • BA/BSc in a biomedical science, health economics or a related discipline is essential
  • A post-graduate qualification in a biomedical science, health economics, economics, health services research or a relevant related area is desirable

Technical and Personal Skills

Post-graduate work experience in a related area such as scientific research, health economics, medical communications and/or statistics would be advantageous. Successful candidates will require:

  • A high level of literacy, with the ability to appraise evidence critically and write reports, manuscripts and other materials for publication in clear, concise language
  • A high level of numeracy and analytic skills, ideally with evidence of application of these skills in a work or academic setting
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and an interest in learning relevant decision-support and statistical packages
  • Good understanding of and interest in the international healthcare environment
  • A keen attention to detail

Personal skills for the successful candidate will include:

  • A willingness to work effectively with other members of the team to meet the high standards of the company and our clients
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) with a high standard of written scientific English
  • A desire to learn new techniques and explore new therapeutic areas
  • The ability to build strong working relationships both externally with clients and internally with co-workers
