Candidates admitted to the PhD Programme at NHH will be entitled PhD Research Scholar.

The Department of Accounting, Auditing and Law comprises three research groups that cover the core areas of financial accounting and auditing (FAA); management accounting and control (MAC); and economics, ethics and law (EEL). The Department of Business and Management Science (BMS) is looking for highly motivated and talented individuals. The PhD specialisation at BMS aims to give a solid training in using rational, systematic, science-based techniques to inform and improve business decisions, making use of empirical and theoretical methods reflecting the state of the art in the field.
The PhD specialisation in Economics aims to give dedicated graduates a solid training in performing high quality scientific research in economics, making use of state of the art empirical and theoretical techniques. The programme prepares students for the international academic job market, for positions at national and international policy institutions, central banks, and research organisations. The department provides the PhD Research Scholars with personal computers, printers, extensive library resources, a wide range of software, and office space on the same floors as the faculty, thus encouraging interaction between PhD Research Scholars and faculty. This interaction is further encouraged through social gatherings and a wide variety of seminars and workshops in which the PhD Research Scholars are fully involved.
The Department of Finance is currently inviting applications for doctoral scholarships, with a starting date of August 2017. The PhD specialization in Finance focuses on developing doctoral students’ theoretical knowledge and methodological skills required to become successful researchers in finance. We encourage applicants with strong quantitative skills and a background in finance, economics, statistics and mathematics. Candidates should express an interest in an academic career in research and teaching, and have good communication and analytical skills. We welcome project proposals, theoretical or empirical, in areas such as asset pricing, banking, corporate finance, market microstructure, portfolio management, and behavioral finance.
