Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology (IGBMC), France

Postdoctoral position -Semi-Markovian processes in Biology

Job Description

The main research activity in our lab is to develop stochastic and biophysical models of eukaryotic gene regulation. Our work lays at the interface between biophysics  and bioinformatics combining tools and methods from both fields to develop mechanistic models of transcriptional regulation based on both large-scale genome-wide and single-cell imaging data.

We are offering a postdoc position to work on stochastic processes and its applications in Systems Biology. In particular, to study semi-Markovian processes from a theoretical perspective and apply them to eukaryotic gene regulation and cell-cycle.

The IGBMC is one of the main European centers in developing interdisciplinary research at the interface of biology, biochemistry, physics and medicine. The IGBMC offers a unique, dynamic and multidisciplinary environment ideal to develop a scientific career.

The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. A strong mathematical background, experience in stochastic processes and good programming skills are required. A strong motivation and a good capacity to work in a team in a multidisciplinary environment are also important. Written and spoken English will be necessary for communication in the team and with other groups.

Please send your application (including motivation letter, a CV, a description of research experience and contact information for 2-4 reference) by email to

Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology (IGBMC)

The IGBMC was created in 1994 and is now one of the main European research centres in this domain.
