Position Information:

The INSERM research unit UMR-S949 located at the Etablissement Français du Sang in Strasbourg is looking to recruit a motivated candidate with a solid background in image analysis and processing techniques.

The general aim of the UMR-S949 is to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in the production of blood platelets and their functions. Many of the research fields rely on cutting edge light and electron microscopy techniques (confocal microscopy, TEM, SEM and FIB-SEM). To foster, enrich and accelerate its research, we are looking for a highly motivated engineer with a strong background in Image Analysis for Life Sciences (images manipulation, analysis and processing). Importantly, a strong feature of the imaging activities involves the generation of 3D reconstructions. This position has guaranteed funding for 18 months.

The institute is based in Strasbourg (France), in an international scientific city with dynamic and well renowned University, directly located in the city center.

  • Generate images using fluorescent (confocal) and electron microscopy (FIB-SEM), establish 3D reconstructions and analyze images. The candidate will perform quantification, tracking, segmentation, and importantly large image stacks manipulation.
  • Provide support to researchers with regards to image analysis.
  • Ability to work within in a very multidisciplinary environment: biology / microscopy / image analysis

Professional experience:

  • Proven experience applying image analysis tools such as Amira, Fiji/ImageJ or MATLAB.
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced light and electron microscopy
  • Knowledge in Cell Biology is necessary

The formal application should be submitted by e-mail to:
