YOUR TASKS

  • At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research in the domain of language and translation technology. Your research is in line with the research areas of the Language and Translation Technology Team (https://lt3.ugent.be/).
  • You teach courses at bachelor, master or postgraduate level within the language technology section of the department (a.o. localisation, introduction to Python, digital communication management).
  • You supervise bachelor papers and master dissertations.
  • You will assist in writing research proposals and the coaching of PhD students in the LT3 research group.
  • If you meet the formal criteria, you will submit an application for a postdoctoral fellowship at the FWO.  

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a doctoral degree in the domain of language and/or translation technology. The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
  • For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted.
  • You have already conducted research within the field of language and translation technology.
  • You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher in your doctorate.
  • You have relevant scientific publications in (inter)national peer-reviewed academic journals and proceedings of high-profile conferences that are widely disseminated.
  • You are profoundly interested in coaching students in the Bachelor’s, Master’s and/or Advanced Master’s programmes.
  • Having positively evaluated teaching experience at academic level in language technology subjects is recommended.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a temporary appointment for a period of 3 years. The appointment cannot be renewed.
  • Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to 3 years, you can apply. The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term
  • Your appointment will start on 1 September 2024 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP5. More information about our salary scales

The certificate can be requested via www.naricvlaanderen.be/en. For diplomas awarded in the UK before January 31st of 2020, a certificate of equivalence is not required
