Two 2-years postdoctoral fellow position is available from Mai 2017 in the research team entitled “Neuroglial Interactions in Cerebral Physiopathology” headed Dr Nathalie Rouach at The Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Biology (CIRB) (https://www.college-de-france.fr/site/en-cirb/rouach.htm).
The postdoctoral project is related to the “NACID” (Neuronal and astroglial contribution in Intellectual Disability) program, recently granted by the French Agency ANR in 2016 and developed in collaboration with 2 other research groups in Paris (Pierre Billuart, Institut Cochin) and in Strasbourg (Yann Herault, Clinique de la Souris). The aim of this project is to characterize the interactions between astroglia and neurons in the context of synaptopathy and will be focused on Oligophrenin1 gene, which mutations are associated with Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorders or schizophrenia.
The postdoctoral fellow will address the relative contribution of each cell types in the synaptic transmission using conditional inactivation in neurons or astrocytes and electrophysiological recording of pyramidal cells in hippocampus. Consequences of the mutation on the neuronal and astroglial morphology will also be investigated after filing the cells with dyes.
A strong expertise in electrophysiology will be required. Candidates should have a recent PhD degree, a high motivation to pursue a challenging and autonomous research.
