Job Description:

The focus of the of the professorship in Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the teaching and application of work methods for networked planning in civil engineering, which is also a central methodological component of the department’s Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, especially in Architecture. The professorship is particularly relevant to the implementation of sustainable concepts in new construction and existing buildings.

The position holder (m/f/x) represents the professorship in an application-oriented manner in teaching, continuing education and research. 

In the designated area of expertise, Building Information Modeling (BIM), the applicant will impart methodological knowledge of architectural planning and the necessary integration of the specialized knowledge of project participants in addition to CAD teaching. Digital 3D models and building design capabilities are organized and implemented in a cooperative and interdisciplinary manner using Building Information Modeling (BIM) methods. The applicant should be able to map and communicate the entire BIM process (BIM lifecycle). Special aspects are planning, methods of digital recording, operation and management, structural changes and demolition of buildings.

The professorship makes a significant contribution to the range of modules offered by the Department of Architecture, Real Estate and Construction Management as well as Surveying and Geoinformation in the Bachelor's and Master's programs, both in German and in international courses. Therefore, in addition to outstanding qualifications in the field of appointment, excellent German and English language skills are required.

The professorship requires a high level of commitment to supervising bachelor's and master's theses, student projects and excursions, to the strategic further development of the consecutive degree programs, as well as the expansion and development of career-integrated, continuing education and cooperative degree programs. Anhalt University’s application-oriented study approach requires intensive cooperation with the practice and training partners. 

Applied research will focus on interdisciplinary cooperation with national and international universities and research institutions, with companies and professional associations as well as with other departments at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. Active participation in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects and research and development projects is expected. 

Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has the right to award doctorates in research-intensive disciplines. Participation in the inter-university Doctoral Center “Architecture and Design Research” is therefore desired.

Active participation in the University’s collaborative academic management structures (akademische Selbstverwaltung) is also one of the tasks of the professorship. 

Requirement Profile: 

We are looking for an individual with both proven scientific and practical expertise in the application of Building Information Modeling in the design of buildings and/or civil engineering structures. Knowledge of the market's leading BIM and CAD software is a prerequisite. Also relevant is knowledge of data capture and modeling (scan-to-BIM).

The assigned courses are to be developed using modern didactic methods and working techniques, especially in digital form.

The requirements for employment are based on § 35 HSG LSA. This includes, in particular, a university degree in architecture, civil engineering or a comparable degree program.

Furthermore, the future position holder (m/f/x) should demonstrate expertise in the acquisition and implementation of collaborative and/or externally-funded projects with partners from academia and practice, as well as have published on the focus areas of the professorship. 

International networking in the subject area of the professorship is desired.

Excellent knowledge of the German and English languages is required, as are intercultural skills. 

Employment requirements: 

The requirements for employment are governed by article 35 Hochschulgesetz des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt (HSG LSA). Any first-time appointment to a professorship is based on fulfilling the requirements for a probationary civil servant position (Beamtenverhältnis auf Probe).
