PhD Thesis “Electrochemical detection of biomolecules in lateral flow devices”

Driven by the decentralization of health care systems and the increasing health awareness among the general population, there is a growing demand for low-cost, non-invasive and easy-to-use healthcare devices suitable for determining the health status at the point-of-care. In this context, the development of point-of-care compatible biosensor platforms for the detection of specific biomarker molecules in body liquids plays a pivotal role. Specifically, electrochemical detection of target molecules in easy-to-use lateral flow devices represents a highly promising approach and is the topic of this PhD thesis. The goal is the detection and quantification of the concentration levels of a defined set of biomarker molecules in human salvia.

Description

  • Elaboration of suitable schemes for the electrochemical detection of od biomolecules in lateral flow devices
  • Fabrication of lateral flow devices
  • Development of suitable electrochemical assays for a given set of target molecules in accordance with the requirements given by the sample liquid
  • Performance of electrochemical measurements

Candidate profile

  • Master degree in physics or chemistry
  • Interest in electrochemistry
  • Practical skills in chemical laboratory work
  • Disciplined, self-motivated work style and ability to work independently

Your compensation:

AT least € 2.045,10 gross for 30 hours per month standard personnel salaries for FWF project proposals
